Video: 7-year-old steals car to skip church

7-year-old steals car to skip church...bad boy bad boy what you gonna do?

Who, when they were 7-years-old, had not thought of stealing a car to skip church?

OK, probably not a lot of people, but this young Utah boy took the song lyrics "Bad boy bad boy, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when they come for you," to heart just a bit too seriously.

The 7-year-old stole his dad's car to skip church this weekend and drove it 45 mph right back home with the police right behind him.

“His speed was slow, but erratically; and so he would kind of scoot down lower to push on the gas and kinda sit up on the seat more to see right where he was going,“ said Weber County sheriff’s Lt. Matthew Bell.

“People in the neighborhood are talking about this,“ he added.

I think the kid did what he had to do to get out of what, most of us, hated doing when we were kids--going to church. It is obvious the kid doesn't buy into the whole church thing. Way to go kid! You are an inspiration to all the free-thinking youngsters out there.

I think the 7-year old did a great job driving. Better than some teenagers who take driver's ED. in High School. Sure what he did was wrong. But he didn't wreck the car. Was able to navigate back home. And had the instinct to run from the cops. Give that kid a Power Wheels and a Need For Speed video game.

This is not funny, this mom has too work very hard with this child, she should investigate why his son doesnt want go to the church, cuz God teaching is not the reason to go away in a car, she should talk with his son and ask him what is happening and if something is going bad. My english is not good but i wanted say something. thanks.

Jerk. Why would you hope that some kid got abused for doing something like this? It was reckless and irresponsible but stop encouraging parents to beat up their kids.

ticket the parents for the moving violations! (running stopsign, improper lane change etc).

then they will teach junior how to drive right.

then junior's joyrides will be safer.

I support the new, safer joyriding junior.

I can understand the need to escape being bombarded with fictional stories from a made up book written by old men a long time ago and mistranslated and edited and chopped to hell over thousands of years.

I often need to escape being bombarded by that crap myself.

But I STOP AT STOP SIGNS!!!!!

I find it interesting that the posts declaring how the child should be punished, and wondering why he wanted to avoid church, are also the posts with the most misspellings and grammatical errors. Apparently Old Time Religion and Education can't co-exist.

the kid may be too young to charge with a crime but his parents aren't. this is child neglect. neglect in not knowing where he is with car keys. neglect in not teaching a child to respect cars, to not steal things, to respect authority. this kid is going to be stealing cars and killing people in the future. i don't care if his parents attend church once in a blue moon. that doesn't make them good parents.

  • eh 2 years ago

it is not funny. it is not cute. that neglected boy could have killed someone, especially when he drove through a stop sign. i wouldn't mind if he would've killed himself, natural selection, and perhaps it would've taught the parents a lesson, but to potentially take out someone else is not fair.

If you whip him its being an abusive parent.
If you scold him you are demoralizing him for his choices.
If you don't do anything you are neglecting your child.
If you praise him you are sending the wrong message.
If you respond in any way what-so-ever you are doing something wrong in someone's eyes.
I am just surprised the cop didn't shoot him or at the very least blame his behavior on pot. That is the new catch all excuse for bad behavior these days isn't it?

That boy's parents need to beat him untill he bruises! The boy clearly needs to go to church MORE SO HE UNDERSTANDS HE WAS WRONG!
If that boy was my son I wouldhave whiped his ass so hard he couldnt sit for a year! He needs to learn GODS Commandments!! ESPECIALY THOU SHALT HONOR THY FATHER AND MOTHER!!!!
dispicible libral parents probably praised they're kid and gave him new toys for finding a new way to avoid church. Their just jelous they never thoght of that when growing up as kids themselfs.
Beat this boy and teach him a leson!!!!!!!1

wbber i reported you, you better be careful what you say on the internet, because it is all recorded. somebody like me might come around and nail you right where i got you. im a government official, do you have kids your self, because if you do and they bring them into questining and they say you have beat on them. you will get them taken away from you. so becareful what you say because there is going to be an investigation on you pal. i got your transcript printed. and i will be tracing your ip and i will hand it over to your local authorities. depending on your jurisdiction. charges maybe severe, becareful what you say on the internet. because you may just find your talking to an authority and have them show up at your door and next thing you know your in trouble. and fyi your computer will be seized and taken in for evidence. remind you that anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law, you did have a right to remain silent but since you said something that did give up your right. look it up in the constitution in the 4th amendmant. your stupid wbber. i really hope they do get you for admitting this and whcih they probably will. expect a knock at your door by your local authorities soon. XD jerk.

I wondered who taught this young boy to drive. It looks like he has driven before. Of course he should be punish as the parents see fit. Also, they probably have an ideal why he does not want to go to church. But, the parents should push the issue about 'why their son went to such extreme.'
