Gail Gitcho, national press secretary for the Republican National Committee, has agreed to join the staff of Senator-elect Scott Brown (R-MA). Brown praised Gitcho's reputation for fairness and her relationship with the national and Washington press corps.
According to Mark Preston at CNN politics, Gitcho has an extensive campaign track record. In addition to her senior stint at the RNC, she worked on Mitt Romney’s 2008 primary campaign and John McCain’s presidential campaign. She also worked for Rep. Clay Shaw (R-FL).
James Richardson at RedState is casting Gitcho's resignation as a setback for RNC Chairman Michael Steele, saying that the "press shop is a shadow of its former hawkish, oftentimes combative self — which inundated reporters with negative press clippings and research memos."
