Obama's teleprompter demands recognition

Last summer I took note of Obama's dependency on his teleprompter and how Obama usually heavily scripted. I also noted that without that remote control from his handlers, Obama is prone to gaffes such as his infamous clingy remarks at that San Francisco fundraiser.

Yesterday, Carol E. Lee wrote about Obama's dependence on his teleprompter:

Obama’s reliance on the teleprompter is unusual — not only because he is famous for his oratory, but because no other president has used one so consistently and at so many events, large and small.

That was followed by Peter Baker writing in the New York Times that no other President has used the device as much as Obama

Presidents have been using teleprompters for more than half a century, but none have relied on them as extensively as Mr. Obama has so far. While presidents typically have used them for their most important speeches — an inaugural, State of the Union or Oval Office address — Mr. Obama uses them for routine announcements and even for the opening statement of his only news conference so far.

He used them during a visit to a Caterpillar plant in Peoria, Ill. He used them to make brief remarks opening his “fiscal responsibility summit.” He used them to discuss endangered species, even recalling a visit to national parks as an 11-year-old. “That was an experience I will never forget,” he said, reading from the teleprompter.

Both articles also noted what a poor speaker Obama is without his remote-controlled teleprompter providing a script to read. All of which sets the stage for the following video from Iowahawk:

President Obama is not such a great orator, but he is a very good reader. He better be nice to his teleprompter and his remote controllers.

Stop knit picking everything the president does. He wants to be careful in what he says so that media does not harp on every small mistake he makes and try to make mountains out of molehill. Find better things to write about than this meaningless item.

This is not about nitpicking. It is abput being scared of getting caught up in lies while campaigning. Now that he is enthroned the lies don't matter anymore. All that matters now is to keep the presses printing worthless money.

It does make you wonder what goes on away from the teleprompter. His penchant for using it could eventually become a liability, if it's believed he's not capable of "thinking on his feet," or is too much a "control freak." The debates don't count: he easily could have used any number of pre-arranged, memorized answers to respond to whatever his rival or the moderator threw at him. Even if he didn't respond with canned answers verbatim, they don't count as "extemporaneous."

Other politicians use indes cards, or notes or some other written notes. Obama uses modern technology.

There are those who wait in glee to find any reason to inject an insult. They have no points to make, nothing to offer. It's all about being a poor loser. That is what makes the Republican brand a losing brand. They continue to behave like losers.

I don't know why Obama hasn't looked into Jumbo Bright Prompters. If used those, he wouldn't be getting any bad press about reading his speaches.

This is just a made up baloney story. I've work with Obama at a state convention in '07 where he spoke to about 5K folks. I was in charge of hiring the teleprompter and getting the scripts. Obama didn't use the promoter. Granted the teleprompter was set up as most of the other candidates used it and he wasn't the only speaker that day. It's totally fabrication by a bunch of folks who have absolutely ZERO knowledge of his use of teleprompter. Just because you read some bunk story on some stupid blog doesn't make it so.

I am enjoying every minute of reading through the 'Obamas Teleprompter'facebook account - it is a hoot. The teleprompter has quite a personality - i especially like his info page and his photo albums.
