Rendon/Injury at the Super Regionals
The healing process has begun for Rice third baseman and All-American, Anthony Rendon. It was during the Owls run at the Super Regionals when Rendon was hurt. He suffered the injury in the second inning of the second game after attempting to chase a foul ball along the third base line near the bullpen.
Once Rendon could finally gather himself, he realized that he would not be able to walk and had to be carried off the field by teammates Mark Haynes and Andrew Benak. In addition to having lost game one on Friday night, 12-9, the Owls would lose game two to LSU, 5-3 on Saturday. That lose would end their season and the season would also come to an end for Anthony Rendon. But, after talking with him last week, we know that he has strong intentions of coming back next season stronger than ever.
Currently, Rendon is resting after surgery. The Examiner received word by text just moments ago from Anthony. "I'm drugged up right now. I had surgery this morning. But, I'm alright!" I responded by telling him to take it easy and relax. His response---"sounds good!' Modern technology has its advantages.
We will continue following his progress and provide updates as we go. You can also follow us on twitter .
