Zuhair Murad, Lebanese born and Parisian trained fashion designer, knows how to make a woman feel beautiful, and how to make other women feel like they forgot something when they left for the ball. Whether it is more embroidery, beading, sheer and beading, or sheer amount of fabric, that girl who just walked in the room made the right choice in her effort to win belle of the ball. More than ever, Murad has taken pretty to the next level. She isn't just a greek goddess, she isn't just carrying Jackie-O tribute through her walk along Spring 2014 red carpets, and she isn't just covering the parts that a lady cares to keep covered with amazing embroidery and lace that make Chantilly feel just plain pretty. She's beauteous. She makes the prettiest girl in the room wonder why she held back tonight. And if you are someone who will dream about red carpet evenings, you will be dreaming of wearing a Murad gown to do so. With every way to shock the senses we see dreamy "Barbie" forms parade this season. There are full Dior-ish skirts both long and short, hot pants sometimes beaded and another time hidden under a sheer full skirt, mermaid hems galore, and lace pant suits, all donned with a rose or plum leaf true waist metal belt. There are crew necks, deep V's, and sweetheart lines which all compliment the massive effort in fabrication and attention to pretty. The color palette was creme, black but only in lace and zebra of course, whispy pink, rose gold, teal cloud, calm coral, just lemons, and the only color combination was lemon with lilac. The sheer dresses with specifically placed beading and embroidery in revealing placement was perhaps the main attraction and what we will see come award season on celebrities galore. It filled the space from seasons past where we saw Murad experiment successfully with laser cutting on ballgowns or that goth vein style he shocked us with for Spring 2014 RTW collections. As he closed this season with a hiatus of lavender dresses, hearts across Paris felt full. A sweetheart strapless dress with a full skirt in creme as obviously THE wedding gown for this Spring. Shown on a girl that may be actually a barbie incarnate, the finale proved that Murad went all in for gorgeous gorgeousness, and not just really pretty, with his perhaps most elaborate and effective collection yet.
