Zen Pinball 2 is a pinball game developed by Zen Studios and published by Zen Studios and Sony Computer Entertainment. The game is released on multiple platforms with multiple release dates, with the PlayStation 4’s release date of December 24th, 2013.
Graphics-The graphics are flawless. A lot of effort and attention is put into the tables themselves, and the result is a masterpiece of pinball table proportion. The character model each table brings forth is also well done, and the characters on the licensed tables (Marvel, Star Wars, etc.) look like their movie/comic book counterparts. Some of the ball designs some of the tables bring is also well done and they look great.
Sound-Besides the basic pinball sounds, the soundtrack itself is also well done and fits into each table perfectly. The voice acting is also great and adds atmosphere to each table.
Gameplay-Gameplay is the same as any other pinball game; you just go for the high score, complete mini games to add to your score, and earn extra balls.
Transaction concept-This is the game’s only weakness. Having a player play a demo and then decide if they want to buy the specific table isn’t a smart choice. Why not just have the options of having to buy the table as whole downloadable content and have at least a few pre-installed tables included in the game?
Physics-Of all the video pinball games physics, this game beats them all. The physics in this game are perfect and makes you feel like you’re really playing a pinball machine. The ball behaves the most realistically of all video pinball games out there.
Overall-If you want a pinball game for your PlayStation 4, this game’s for you. The physics, tables, gameplay, sound and everything else this game has works in its favor. The only weakness is the demo for tables, which is a pointless move. Other than that, this game is worth getting. And guess what? It’s FREE! (to an extent).
