We recently were excited to find a bottle of Neruo Sonic, lightly carbonated drink in our local, Long Island's newest deli All Wrapped Up on Woodbury Road in Woodbury, New York.

We've seen celebrities such as Jack Nicholson, Lady GaGa, Adam Sandler, Paris Hilton all carrying the cool looking bottle and wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

They claim: "NeuroSonic® is a delicious drink designed to increase high level mental functioning: better memory, alertness and concentration. NeuroSonic was formulated to help meet the demands of today’s high stress living, where it’s vital for the brain to function at top form. The unique combination of plant extracts, amino acids and unique dietary ingredients provide fuel for the brain to remain focused and alert over long periods of time. The ingredient Alpha GPC provides raw materials to the brain to help it function better, faster. Vitamins Inositol, B-6, B-12 and other B-vitamins help support the nervous system. Rounding out the formula is the ingredient resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine, which protects the brain and may have anti-aging benefits. Together, these ingredients provide the foundation for enhanced brain function"

Are you kidding me?

This drink is un-drinkable. It is so sweet, so over the top with undistinguishable flavors that we would have to be stupid to drink it again.

They say:

  • provides mental energy (if you sucked down that much caffeine you would have energy too!)
  • supports focus and concentration (the bottle is pretty... thats all you can focus on)
  • promotes healthy aging (your Grandma would not be drinking this stuff)
  • supports memory (you got that right. Remember... don't drink this)
  • not intended for anyone under the age of 12 or who is caffeine sensitive (the best claim yet)

We got the picture. It's not good or really good for you. What's in it?

475 mg. of the proprietary ingredients Taurine, CaffeinePhosphatidylserine, LTheanine, Choline alphoscerate (Alpha GCP), Reversatol. Also you will find carbonated water, Crystalline Fructose, natural flavors, guar Acacia, ester gum, citric acid, malic acid, fruit and vegetable juice (for color), sucralose, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, niacinamide, pyridoxine HCI, riboflavin, thaiamin HCI, folate, cyannocobatamin, cholecalciferol, soy lecithin; Contains Soy

Nutrition?

1 14.5 oz. bottle is 35 calories, 9 g. Carbs, and 9 g. Sugars. They do not give sodium count. Each bottle has 50 mg. of Caffeine!

Bottom line:

It's Back to School time: Don't think you will get smarter if you drink Neuro Sonic.

Gimme just the facts:
