Year of the Snake at HOB Disney (Photos)

Fortune cookies with a chance to win a Vegas trip, special guest hosts Firechild and DJ Ear from OC Rock Radio, and then the bands: Red Light Redemption, Gramilla, KaVan, Blacklist Union, Haster, and All Else Fails with live art on stage produced by Joe Ded. That is what Gig Boss's "Year of The Snake" show at HOB Disney was all about. For a video re-cap and performance clips from all of the bands, click this link http://youtu.be/-R1BiLFC5V0

Red Light Redeption is Steven (lead vocals and guitar), Marshall (percussion), and Magnus (bass and vocals). This is what the band has to tell its fans “Our goal simply: Create a ground swell that cannot be ignored, and continue to do our part to help bring “true” rock and roll back to its rightful place of prominence”. The boys did just that at HOB Disney for Year of The Snake. This band is a true Rock 'n Roll band that sounds big enough to be a 5 piece band but does it all with just 3. They reminded me of a 3 piece Nickel Back - good ol' Rock 'n Roll with a modern sound. This was the first time I saw them and I would see them again.

Pacheco - Vocals, Craig - Guitar, Kerr - Guitar, Matt - Bass, and Arturo on the drums is GRAMILLA. Large on stage physically, in sound, and in their presentation, I recommend going to see them highly if you want a Metal edge to your Rock. This was another band that I had not seen before, but they are definately on my radar now and I look forward to seeing them again.

KaVan is the 2013 version of Iron Maiden, without Eddie. This band is hands down one of the best bands on the local scene and set to explode with new material and a new album coming soon. Paul Harkin's vocals provide great power with a wide dynamic range. Thomas, lead guitar, is one of the best solo guitarist I know. Billy plays rythym guitar as if he was born with it in his hand and also has a huge stage presence. Rudy, the newest member of the band, is a great bass player who can play chunky or smooth while also providing excellent back up vocals. On the skins is Jordan who is one of the smoothest hard hitting drummers I've seen, wasting no motion as he provides the constant back bone of the KaVaN sound. This is a Must see band.

Alternative Metal/Street Rock: that is what you get when you partake in a Blacklist Union show. “Blacklist Union is unfiltered and in your face its raw and as real as it gets. BLU has had its shares of ups and downs throughout its almost 8 years of existence to say the least, but in the end they have always pulled thru to face another day and to write another chapter of their checkered and colorful lives”. This is just some of what BlackList Union would say to you if you asked who they were. Front man Tony West puts on one hell of show. This band is a true LA Rock Experience taking their show on the road throughout the U.S. Check them out on Facebook for tour information and make some new friends.

Jarret Stockmar - Vocals, David Heida - Guitars, Brian Tew - Drums, and Bob McCool - Bass are the guys of Haster. Alternative Metal and Hard Rock combine to create Hasters sound. “Placing importance on live performances as well as social media, the band reaches out to an enormous number of followers on a daily basis. Meaningful messages and sociable attitudes help them create and maintain a personal communication with their fan base. Haster believes in their music and hopes to share it with anyone willing to listen”. Not only do they reach their old fans but they make new ones at every show. If you see them live you will become a fan, that is how awesome they are. These are the high energy kids next door with the band that your parents may have complained about, but they'll have the last laugh touring around the world making money.

All Else Fails: All I can say is Wow!!! Those boys brought it like a thunder storm. Vic- Lead Vocals, Rich- Drums, Matt- Guitar, and Tony- Bass are All Else Fails. This unique sound of hip/hop, metal, and rock mesh together to give you an eargasm. Yes it is that good. Energy, passion., and agressive attitude make this Sullen band a must see. Along with AEF on stage was visual artist Joe Ded. He was painting live on stage - a rad pic on canvas while the boys rocked the stage. His art is Rock, whismical, and awesome. He is as corful in life as he is on canvas.

This "Year of the Snake" show was the brainchild of Gig Boss. Bands if you do not know him, look him up. He is one promoter you will want to work with.
