Motorcycle jackets pinned on top of unfinished ball gowns, baggy streetwear influenced trousers, vans, and tons of black. I am throughly impressed with Yang Li. His collection for Spring 2014 show at Paris Fashion Week, really resonated with me for some reason. Models seemed to conform to a uniform of bare makeup and hair down long and straight. Clothing was a mix of menswear and womenswear, adding to the devil may care vibe. Even the set was underdressed, with no showmanship, just a blank runway, pristine for showing the pieces. Lookbooks are incredible, and really communicate a downtown grungy vibe, with a streetwear focus. The oversized cuts were just stunning and really showed off the clothing. Li's collection also seemed to have a military feel to it at some points, based on the cuts and the army green coloring. One standout outfit was a white maxi oversized skirt topped off with a deep green unfinished sweater which trailer beyond the model. Yang Li's aesthetic is so downtown cool, it will be no time before his utterly wearable fashions are a hit with the Alexaner Wang and Jason Wu fashion set.
