Women's equality- have we achieved this? It's 2012 and women are still only being paid 77 cents on average for every dollar a man makes doing the same job. Is that equal?
Regardless of your views, if you are female, do you know what women before us went through for the right to vote? Many important events have happened for women over the last 100 years- many of which are never even mentioned in our history courses across America. Have you heard of the Night of Terror? Do you know who Gloria Steinem is? How about Alice Paul?
Take just three hours of of your schedule to listen to an important and interesting NPR recording on women's equality. They are on CD's and you can listen to them as you drive to and from work. It is only three hours in total- so they are easy to listen to and it goes very quickly. The facts contained and the stories shared are all too often untold. The American Chronicles Women's Equality (NPR) CD audio can be borrowed from your local library- at no cost to you!
Women have made so much progress over the last 90 years, yet we still have so much further to go. Do you believe the women's movement is continuing to progress or is being held stagnate? What are your thoughts?
