Wholly Wholesome fruit pies good as home baked?

Correction: This Examiner gave Wholly Wholesome a Five Star Review but a technical error is showing it as a three star review. We apologize for the error.

Home Baked Versus In Store Baked or Store Bought Frozen

The only way to serve a really delicious, down home, lip smacking fruit pie is to bake it yourself, right?  That's truly what I thought until a few days ago. With frozen or even bakery made pies, the bottom crust is often too thick and soggy, the fruit filling either too cloyingly sweet and overloaded with cinnamon and nutmeg or not sweet enough and the top crust tough and a bit tasteless, too buttery and loaded with sugar.

Then a couple of weeks ago, I was invited, by Wholly Wholesome, to try some of their baked goods. When the three pies arrived, apple, peach and pumpkin, I baked them, threw away the boxes and sat them out for anyone who happened through the test kitchen; it's a pretty busy place. For about three days I was complimented again and again on how good my pies were. I was asked for the recipes twice. When I finally came clean and admitted that they were store bought, Wholly Wholesome frozen pies, everyone was very surprised and immediately wanted to know where I got them.  They were even more excited when I told them more about the company.

  • Blueberry

  • Cherry

  • Harvest Berry

  • Dairy Free Pumpkin which is vegan

  • Organic Pie Shells

Wholly Wholesome's Promise

Wholly Wholesome promises, "Baked goods without Artificial Flavors, Colors, Preservatives or Additives • Hydrogenated Fats, Oils or Trans Fatty Acids • Conventionally Refined Sugars or Synthetic Sweeteners • Bleached or Bromated Flours • Irradiated Ingredients"

And they deliver good taste. We give them five stars and 2 spatulas up. (It shows three stars above but that is a technical error.)  A great idea to make your life a little easier and healthier through the holidays and the rest of the year.

Please note that the three star rating is an error. I totally give these wonderful, natural baked goods five stars. The whole wheat pie shells are wonderful for those on diets too! Do try them! Linda
