Mother’s Day is when you celebrate that special mom or mother figure in your life and thank her for all those wonderful and selfless things she has done for you over the years. It wasn’t until I became a mother myself that I realized just how much work, love and dedication went into being a mom. So this year, I put together a list of gift suggestions that I believe will impress.

For those moms who work or are constantly on the go, Dropcam ($149) or Dropcam Pro ($199) allows mom (or dad) to be able to see what’s going on at home. Dropcam provides a cloud service along with its video monitoring cameras that wirelessly streams live video to your smartphone, tablet or computer, for a fee. How cool is that? So if you have a sitter you can check in on your kiddos; or if dad is watching the kids you can monitor their TV time or if you’re on vacation you can use it as home surveillance. Even cooler, you can talk through the camera like an intercom. My tester’s husband really enjoyed this feature. Dropcam's set up is easy, simply plug the Dropcam into your computer and follow the enclosed instructions. My mom tester was impressed and plans to use it to keep tabs on her kiddos when there is a babysitter or dad is taking on mom-duties. Sold at Apple Stores or online at Amazon.com. STARS: ****

Does your mom have a sweet tooth? Then consider Moonstruck’s Hiwa Kai Hawaiian Black Sea Salt Caramels ($10). Made with the finest and freshest ingredients, these chocolates are decadent. My mom tester opted to pair hers with a good bottle of red wine. Sounds like a delicious treat to me. STARS: ****

What mom has the time to track her every move? If your mom is fitness conscious, then consider purchasing her the Fitbit Flex Wireless Wristband ($99.95). This bracelet is designed in a slim, minimalistic look and can be worn 24/7 to track all the best stats, like steps taken, distance traveled and calories burned. How does it work? The user syncs their Fitbit with their computer and/or iOS and Android phone. They can then simply tap the band to see their progress throughout the day. My mom tester had a Fitbit before that clipped to her bra or shirt. Unfortunately, that design wasn’t as secure as the Fitbit Flex and she lost her original Fitbit during one of her daily outings. She is much happier with the design of the new Fitbit Flex Wireless Wristband. New moms may be impressed with the Fitbit’s ability to also track your quality of sleep, i.e., number of hours slept and how many times you wake up. Available in multiple colors and for purchase at Sport Chalet. STARS: ****

Looking for a little bling and relaxation at the same time? Diamond Candles ($24.95) are 100 percent soy candles available in multiple scents that also include an exciting and fun 'ring reveal.' What? Yes, you read correctly. Simply light your Diamond Candle and hidden inside is a surprise diamond ring (valued at $10, $100, $1,000, or $5,000). My mom tester’s little girl loves watching the candle burn and searching for the foil pouch where the ring is safely enclosed. This is a fun and entertaining gift and you never know, it might include a highly sought after $5,000 diamond ring! Plus the scented candle is relaxing and soothing – available in seven scents. STARS: *****

After the kids go to bed most moms like to relax and catch up on some non kid television shows. In our house my husband and I enjoy watching Games of Thrones. The only downfall is when our router is acting up and our show is interrupted with slow service. That’s why I’m including the Linksys WRT AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router ($249.99) in this round up. Are you a fan of Hulu or Netflix? Does mom only have an hour or two of free time to catch up on her favorite show or movie? Then consider getting mom the Linksys WRT AC1900 Dual Band Wireless and having dad set it up for her for Mother’s Day. Providing fast Internet access allows mom to quickly download data on her iPad or tablet and helps ensures she can watch her favorite show on Netflix, Downtown Abbey anyone? My mom tester appreciates the fast and uninterrupted service the Linksys provides. STARS: *****

Additionally, if you have a techie mom or a mom who takes a lot of photos and videos of her kiddos, the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive instantly adds 64 GB of storage space to your iPad, iPhone, Kindle Fire, and Android™ device. That means mom can save a lot more photos to send to the grandparents and if you’re like my mom tester, printing photos isn’t a huge priority any more so ensuring their safety is the upmost importance. The SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive is portable and wireless -- connecting up to eight devices and stream media to as many as three devices simultaneously--without the need for an Internet connection. The drive's battery recharges via USB and offers up to four hours of continuous streaming on a single charge. My mom tester thought it was great to be able to put in her purse so she could easily show grandma and grandpa the latest photos of the kiddos. STARS: ***1/2

Does mama want a new computer? Then HP’s Envy TouchSmart M6 ($629) should be at the top of her list. The HP Envy M6 laptop boasts a 15.6 inch touchscreen which makes it easy to navigate and even has voice recognition capabilities. Techies will be happy to note that the Envy has an AMD quad-core processor; 6 GB of system memory; and 750 GB hard drive. This computer also has a great sound system -- dual speakers with built in Beats audio. Weighing only 5.6 pounds and measuring only 0.9 inches thin, my mom tester loved the Envy’s bigger screen and its touch capabilities. Toggling a mouse with a toddler is hard so the touchscreen was one of her favorite parts of this ultra cool computer. The HP Envy comes in an aluminum finish of modern silver; has two USB 3.0 ports; an HDMI output; and a built in media reader. Operating with Microsoft Windows 8, the HP Envy’s software package also includes Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Cyberlink PowerDirector, PhotoDirector and YouCam DE. A must-have this Mother’s Day. STARS: *****

Summer is quickly approaching and outdoor entertaining is a must. UE Boom ($199.99) is a 360 degree portable wireless speaker that is easy to set up and charge, according to my tester. Its sound system is impressive and it has a decent bass – based on its size. Additionally, my tester likes the size of the speaker which is the perfect to transport to the beach or park. Boasting a 15 hour battery life, the UE Boom also has a water and stain resistant skin. Available in six different colors, the UE Boom is a great gift for mom. STARS: ****1/2

I don’t know about you but my kiddos have already been in the pool at least a dozen times this spring. So even if you don’t have babies any more your mom may be interested in the Tidy Tote ($15.99). The Tidy Tote was designed by a mom to keep your child’s soiled/dirty clothes, burp cloths, toys that have dropped on the dirty floor - separate from your clean items in your diaper bag/backpack or purse. Best thing about the Tidy Tote is that you can pull out the inner lining for a quick rinse or just throw it in the wash. My mom tester keeps her in her beach bag and after the kids are showered off from the pool, she slips their wet swimsuits into the Tidy Tote. Available in multiple prints and for purchase at Localfixture.com.

QVC has some great gift ideas for mom this year. Check out its Isaac Mizrahi Live! Bridgehampton Leather Crossbody ($122.23) bag. This beautiful leather cross body purse is available in two different colors, coral/bone or bone/lemon. The Bridgehampton features textured pebble leather pops. My tester loved the bag’s leather tassel and the multiple compartments in its interior and its silky soft leather. The Bridgehampton bag is the perfect size for a night out on the town. STARS: ****

What better to put in your new purse than a tarte LipSurgence Power Pigment ($24) from QVC? Available in eight different shades, tarte’s LipSurgence includes a subtle peppermint flavor and provided a translucent pigmentation to my tester’s lips. A great little make up staple for mom. STARS: ****

Still looking for a small gift that is also useful? W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company’s Lightweight Pink Camo Lockback Knife is cute and functional. Equipped with a lanyard hole and a stainless steel Drop Point Blade that resists marring, the Lightweight Pink Camo Lockback Knife is a great accessory for mom. Measuring in at just three inches closed; the knife only weighs eight ounces. My mom uses her to open boxes or to cut twine. STARS: ***1/2

Moms may love heels but most don’t wear them daily. Consider buying mom a cute fashionable pair of Melissa shoes. The company sent my tester a pair of its Melissa Ultragirl Special ($98) flats in tan. These cute shoes have rhinestone appliqués that add some flair and a little bling bling to the shoe. What my tester loves is Melissa shoes are scented so you don’t have to worry about wearing socks. She also loves the peep toe which adds a sweetness to these comfortable and fashionable shoes. STARS: ****

Getting mom a vacuum for Mother’s day may be considering walking a fine line. But if you buy her the Dyson’s DC65 Animal Complete ($649.99), most likely she will be impressed. This sleek vacuum was designed with technology that allows it to seamlessly move from hardwood to carpet. According to the company, the Dyson DC65 Animal Complete has twice the amount of suction that any other vacuum; and 25 percent more brush bar power – meaning it has great suction. My mom tester loved how the DC65 Animal Complete was easy to steer; she did mention that it was a bit heavy but was very impressed with the amount of dirt and debris that the DC65 picked up – she has two kids under the age of 10. My mom tester also liked the instant release hose which allowed her to easily vacuum her stairs; and the vacuum’s easy release button which allowed her to dump all the dirt into her kitchen garbage can. Since her old vacuum required bags, she was really impressed with the DC65 Animal Complete since she said she used to purchase new bags at least once a month. If mom is in charge of cleaning, I’d suggest buying her a Dyson DC65 Animal Complete and hiring a cleaning lady to test it out this Mother’s Day – or have dad do the job. STARS: *****

Looking for something more spa like? Then check out Body Shop’s Lip Butter Lollipop ($14). This cute gift is packaged as a heart shaped lollipop and includes five different flavors of lip gloss. My mom tester’s favorite was the coconut lip butter. STARS: ****

Moms are always on the go. Bernie Mev’s European inspired footwear is designed with a slip-on styling and relaxed fit. The company sent my tester a pair of its Hazel Flats in black. My mom tester really liked the shoe’s foot bed which is equipped with memory foam making these shoes super comfortable. Bernie Mev’s shoes are exclusively woven uppers which allows air to move freely through the shoe – great for those warm summers. Retailing between $40 to $80, Bernie Mev shoes are available for purchase at Nordstrom. STARS: ***1/2

Trying to buy a present for a new mom? Or a mom that suffers from allergies? Then consider the Nuk Hepa-Type Air Purifier ($99.99). Powered by Bionaire®, the leading air purifier brand, the Nuk Hepa-Type Air Purifier is the only air purifier specially designed for the nursery. According to the company, “not only does it clean 99 percent of airborne particles like dust, pollen, mold and dander from baby’s nursery, it also comes with unique features specially designed for the nursery, including a soothing amber nightlight and child resistant plug lock". While my mom tester wasn’t a new mom (no babies in the house), she does suffer from bad spring allergies. After plugging in the Nuk Hepa-Type Air Purifier, my mom tester noticed a noticeable difference in her head pressure and stuffy nose. In fact, she said she’s been sleeping more soundly since installing the device. What mom doesn’t want a good night’s rest? STARS: ****

I don’t know about you but my bed is my safe haven. It’s where I retire after a long day of being a mom of two. So I was more than happy to take Boll & Branch up on their offer to test their 100 percent organic cotton sheets. The company sent its Queen Sheet Set – Pleated ($240). According to the company, “without the use of harmful dyes or chemicals, Boll & Branch sheets are designed to provide you with a pristine, luxurious feel.” Personally, I love the sheet’s elegant pleated trim and the soft cool sheets which provide a comfortable place to cuddle up after a long day. A great gift for mom and I’d suggest you accompany it with breakfast in bed. STARS: *****

Amala’s Rejuvenate Collection for maturing skin is, according to the company, "a clinically proven treatment system that helps firm, smooth and renew elasticity with organic Cocoa Bean, known for its unique ability to stimulate cell renewal, promote microcirculation and help repair skin’s moisture". The company sent my tester its Rejuvenating Serum ($182) which according to Amala, “is a firming gel serum infused with high potency antioxidants and collagen-boosting botanicals. My tester thought the gel was very soothing and enjoyed its sweet herbal scent. STARS: ****

The moms that I’m friends with love to have a drink or two when off duty. So how about buying mom a bottle of 2012 Clos du Bois North Coast Chardonnay ($15)? According to the company, “the wine has lush fruit flavors of apple blossom, ripe pear, sweet lemon drop and toasty oak.” My tester chilled hers and served it up at a mommy play date. Refreshing and light. STARS: ***

Well moms, if you’re drinking you shouldn’t be driving. Introducing the Bactrack Mobile Breathalyzer ($149.99). Company literature claims, “the Bactrack Mobile Breathalyzer combines police-grade technology with Bluetooth connectivity so it syncs right to an app on your smartphone (iOS and Android). This device also includes a ZeroLine™ feature that allows the user to estimate when your BAC will return to 0.000”. My tester liked its small size (small enough to fit in your purse) and also thought it was a great conversation piece for a night out with the girls. STARS: ****

And if none of the above gift suggestions spark your interest, then go with the traditional gift idea for mom, flowers. Teleflora has some beautiful arrangements to select from this Mother’s Day. The company’s Sunny Day Pitcher of Charm ($54.99 to $74.99) is just gorgeous. This arrangement includes pink roses, yellow gerbera daisies and alstroemeria and brings a breathe of sunshine into the house. A great way to greet mom on this special Mother’s Day. STARS: *****
