What's Your Number? movie review

What's Your Number? came out this past September so it is now available on DVD at your local Redbox or Blockbuster vending machine. The movie stars Anna Faris (of the Scary Movie series) and Chris Evans (of Captain America). Ally Darling (Faris) stumbles across a startling statistic that says women who sleep with more than 20 people can't find a husband. Another magazine statistic that shakes Ally to her core states that the national average for sexual partners in America is about 10. Ally has slept with 20 men.

According to a recent American Sex Survey, "Overall, women report an average of six sex partners in their lifetimes; men, 20. But a better gauge of sexual activity for most people is the median, the midpoint between the high and low: Women report a median of three sex partners; men, a median of eight"

After reading this thoroughly depressing magazine article and realizing that she's been with many more men than all of her friends, Ally goes on a quest to go back down her list in hopes of marrying one of the men she's already been with so she won't have to increase her number.

"I was thinking that maybe you'd be my date to my sister's wedding?" "Are your parents going to be there?" "At my sister's wedding? I think so..." "It just feels a little serious."

This movie is a realistic take on the single woman's plight. Even if you haven't been with a relatively high number of people you can still definitely relate to this movie. The kicker is that Ally is helping plan her sister's wedding while going on her quest to find "The One" from her list of exes. That alone is hilariously depressing enough (and most single women can relate)!

The movie is very funny and well-written. The only downfall is the unavoidable and extremely obvious "I-don't-like-you-but-I'm-going-to-end-up-with-you" moment in the movie. But it is, afterall, a romantic comedy so the audience would be pissed if she didn't end up with someone!
