The Brazilian super fruit can definitely give you one heck of a head start.
Chances are, if I told you I found the most perfect day in one bowl at a place called "Sweetcakes" you would totally scoff, roll your eyes and say "yeah right!" Well, I did and as guilty as I thougth I'd feel to walk in there and get a good wiff of their delictable, aromatic and gourmet baked goods, even though I meant to keep all of these health tips in mind...well, I didn't.
Picture this: You are actually on your way to work, an important meeting, an interview or just finding the right breakfast that will power you through the wind tunnel that seems to make up the every morning ritual that is our rushed existence. You have it all together, but still, something is missing.
Strolling into Sweetcakes, in the heart of Midtown among an assortment of shops and restaurants in the Midtown mall area in Miami, FL is a delight from the start. Their knowledgeable and friendly staff greets you any time of day with a warm smile and with a mission in mind: to get to your hands exactly what you are craving and a simple reason to come back.
The decor is simple, clean line, organic and fun. Their Acai bowl is out of this world. Acai bowl you ask? Yes! this is not only what put a smile on my face, but without a doubt, set presedence to the absolutely perfect day that followed because I felt great the minute I saw it, tasted it and walked away from the table.
This brave, colorful, tasty and healthy approach to breakfast food should be the way to do breakfast every day of the week. This bowl is prepared by blending the puree of lightly frozen acai berries, apples, bananas and honey into a clean white bowl; served on the side along with their house made granola, which include sunflower seeds, pistachios, grounded almonds and yes, coconut shavings.
This is prepared carefully and lovingly...it is sweet, fresh and absoultely perfect. Let's face it, the oatmeal bowl can start to look a bit bland after the third preparation. Acai bowl? Who knew.
Sweetcakes is definitely on to something. I guarantee you, you will never look at your "cereal bowl" the same way again, mostly because you will feel spoiled once you thank them and wave to leave knowing you will absolutely be back for more.
