While exploring Somoma this last weekend I stumbled upon a hidden gem of a tasting room, Westwood Winery. While everything I sampled was exceptional, one wine the stands out is the 2004 Nicholson Ranch Vineyard, Pinot Noir. The aroma of this wine is intense with cherry and spice. On the palate, the cherry is prominent, accompanied by the spice that is present in the aroma. The great acidity and long finish make this an excellent wine to accompany a meal.
The 2004 Nicholson Ranch Vineyard, Pinot Noir was originally released in December of 2008 with 169 cases produced. A bottle runs for around $60. If you are in the Sonoma area this is a tasting room that you don’t want to miss with their exceptional collection of Pinots and Rhône blends and excellent hospitality.
Cheers!
