Warner brings the Oscar nominated film Gravity to Blu-ray

Easily two of the biggest stars in Hollywood today are George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. Both are Oscar winners so their acting ability has already been recognized, but with their latest film Gravity it looks to take them both into a universe neither of them have trekked before. This film is getting tons of hype, but does it live up to it or will it get sucked into the black hole of over hype?

Warner Brothers

Gravity follows a medical engineer and an astronaut work together to survive after an accident leaves them adrift in space. This is easily one of the most amazing films this year if not in some time. For a film like this to be effective and deliver the visuals had to be spot on. There have been tons of space themed films, but nothing has accomplished the level of realism and beauty that this film has. The visuals alone are worth checking this movie out as it alongside the 3D sucks you into the void of space like never before. Despite the various moments of calm interlaced with the intense struggle to survive this film offers up everything you could ever want in a film. Director Alfonso Cuaron paid close attention to the details down to the most important being the lack of sound in space. While this is clearly how it should be, Cuaron deserves epic props for steering away from holiday space to create and experience like never before. Clooney delivers a great performance, but this is Bullock’s show all the way and she steps up to the challenge giving her best performance to date. She spends the majority of the film alone forcing her to have to pull a Castaway performance out and she nails it. Story wise the film is pretty simple on the surface, but as it moves forward you begin to realize that it is not just about survival but about life itself giving it an even deeper feel than you will expect.

This is not just an amazing film, but an experience and one of the few that was made to be seen in 3D and in IMAX if at all possible, but whether you did or just want to check it out again make no mistake it will be just as amazing at home as well. It’s no surprise that this film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. In addition to this amazing film it also includes 3 hours of special features including featurettes, a short film and more so be sure to grab your copy when it hits stores on February 25th on Blu-ray and DVD.
