First off, I would say most fans of War Commander, could not see a day go by without logging into a world of R.T.S. greatness. That I have to give it a B+ makes this review so upsetting. War Commander's epic game-play has been realized, but the one thing holding it back is the repair queue that has never returned to the game. This year has seen some groundbreaking events that went off and ended without any big glitches. The servers held the masses of avid fans online and fighting to grow bigger, win better units and grow to become true leaders in their sectors. Kixeye has even made War Commander more exciting for the higher level commanders by adding missions and the creations of Thorium deposits. Every event brings crazier units and even crazier computer controlled commanders online in their quest to instill fear.
From a fan "Rob de R" on March 20, 2013, on the war commander forum. With people having problems likes these would you give them an A+
Something have improved. The event running smooth, but they changed to much like xp first I could go to wave 40 or even wave 52 getting all i needed, now i couldn't `t manage that...And i am a level 31 with most toys already and most weapons on level 10. How about all those players level 20-30 they are getting nowhere even when they coin big... that sucks Kixeye This game is war commander not coin commander!
A look at Kixeye and the new updates this year from the words of CM Chris Community Manager and Unicorn Overlord.
Barricades.
It's time that your Walls got an overhaul. We've just launched Improved Barricades!
These new Barricades will not only be more durable at all 3 current levels, but you can now upgrade your Barricades all the way to Level 8. These added levels will be much more sturdy, and through the power of Thorium levels 5-8 will block your enemies' non-arcing projectiles. Build up your new Barricades and pick apart your enemy from behind your mighty defensive fortress.
The return of advanced missions.
Fire up your Platoons, Advanced Missions are about to return! We're bringing back the Sickle Syndicate Level 40 bases with beefed up defenses. Not only can you work to earn the Colossus, Havoc, and Behemoth-- but take these bases down and you'll receive a chunk of the precious Thorium resource. You can bet that you'll want to hit these bases.Remember, these second edition Level 40 bases will be back for a very limited time only.Hit them now before they come back even stronger!
Connection problems bug fixes.
We've just pushed out a small update that should improve performance for some users who were previously experiencing disconnects. If you were previously experiencing a lot of disconnects, particularly on clicking "End Attack", we would like to hear from you to confirm whether or not we've improved your situation.Hope you are enjoying the Thorium release and looking forward to the event starting Thursday-- we're going to keep improving stability and performance as actively as we can!
The new units and base upgrades, both defensive and offensive have been extensive and well made. The rise of new types of turrets; flame, ice, laser, and anti-air. Units like the new Flame Assault Vehicle, Reaper Drone, Behemoth, shock tanks and Hellstorm have made balance in the game fun as well as possible. The creations of the Thorium Vault, Defense Lab, Drone Silo, upgrades to the Standard Bunker into Watchtower Bunker, Stronghold Bunker. the new Barricades give added defense and Thoruim gives rise to Level 10 units, making even basic units able to compete. Kixeye has done some great upgrades and fun events but the only way I can give them an A+ rating is if they return the auto repair queue.
Why, most new players may ask, is this so important? As most older players will say, the ability to know how long it would take for your entire forces to be repaired and not having to log in every 3 to 5 hours was a bonus. Waiting for, 24 to 48 hours while doing basic base upkeep and work on upgrades was wonderful. Without this key part of the game it make most players waiting a week or more to build a force to go on any serious military campaign. While die-hard fans have done wonders in keeping their platoons active and created ingenious ways of attacking without losing a single unit. The average player will spend most of their time in-game repairing units.
Until Kixeye returns the auto repair I have no choice but to give this a 4 out of 5. With all the great advances of this game since 2013 began, it gives me a bad taste in my mouth that such a great thing like the auto repair of platoons was left out yet again. Waiting to see if auto repair even returns as a topic on the forum.
