Vox Femina! Shamrocks to Shakespeare on St. Patrick's Day - March 17th - It doesn't get any better on this day!
On this day EVERYONE is Irish for whatever reason. It's all good. I usually don't do this, but I'm giving advance notice (yes, I'll write about it afterwards.) Finish the day's festivites, after the corned beef and cabbage and the green beer(!), with the glorious voices of Vox Femina at the wonderful, acoustically sophisticated Zipper Concert Hall.
In this bi-cultural evening, Vox Femina will unite classic Shakespeare sonnets with authentic Irish music sung in Gaelic. From classical works to folk songs, traditions new and old from England, Scotland and Ireland will be celebrated at the event. They recently performed the glorious Mahler No. 8 Symphony of a Thousand concert with 14 other choirs and the Los Angeles Philharmonic on at Shrine Auditorium.
As a lover of choral music, I personally am truly looking forward to this, and wanted to give you a heads up. If you have the luck of the Irish you'll even see me there. I'll be the one wearing green and a grin.
