Volbeat quickly captivated the the mass gathering, providing their trademark sound best described as hardcore rockabilly. Vocalist Michael Poulsen channels Johnny Cash and Elvis into his own signature delivery. Infectious musical hooks, slamming riffs and driving rhythm couple perfectly with Poulsen's vocals. The result is a sound unlike anything else in music, and it's quickly placed them atop rock's heap as their last five singles have hit #1 on rock radio.

They opened with "Doc Holliday" from their latest opus, "Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies." Several fans took to the air crowd surfing while a small mosh pit opened up center stage. Fan energy remained high throughout the show, enough that the moshing continued most of the night. Poulsen noted a female fan near the midpoint of the set, "You've been following us for a few shows, I recognize you." He then handed her his shirt as a keepsake, and thanked all the fans for their support.

Performing just over 90 minutes, they played most of their radio hits but also treated the crowd to a rare performance of "Ecotone." Other highlights included "The Mirror and the Ripper" and fan-favorite "Still Counting" to end their set. They did return for a lengthy encore that began with the rousing "Pool of Booze, Booze, Booza."

Trivium were a great choice to support the tour. Their modern take on metal follows in the classic footsteps of Metallica. Power riffs and complex compisitions drive their sound, they are currently touring in support of "Vengeance Falls."
