Visit Rookies Sports Bar & Grill in Spring Hill early in the day for great wings

Rookies Sports Bar & Grill at Spring Hill Drive and Barclay in Spring Hill is an unassuming little sports bar just off the Veterans Expressway. With dollar beer specials and inexpensive wings, it is a good place for the budget-conscious family to enjoy a casual meal.

For food, service, and atmosphere this place has major highs and lows. Rookies isn’t exactly sure if it wants to be a bar or a family restaurant and the identity crisis causes the place to have a bit of a time stamp. It is a great place to saunter up to the bar for a decent beer selection and some pretzel bites mid-afternoon, but go on a Friday night and you’ll be in drunk-small-town-party-bar hell with bad lighting, terrible karaoke, and stressed-out waitresses that clearly need an extra hand or two.

However, when it comes to great spicy chicken wings Rookies Sports Bar & Grill is pretty darn strong. There chicken wing are served up with a Jalapeno Ranch dressing that balance the not-quite-perfect flavor to heat ratio. Perfectly crispy and served with all the fixings, including wet naps. These wings are tummy-rubbing goodness. Rookies wings are a 4.65 out of 5. Missing out on a perfect score for the wings being just a little on the small side and the flavor of the sauce not holding up without the accompanying Jalapeno Ranch.

Visit Rookies Sports Bar & Grill in Spring Hill for an afternoon or early evening inexpensive family meal, but steer clear after 8 p.m. if you have children in tow or dislike noise.
