Vila Santa Loios Vinho Red 2012, produced in the southern region of Alentejo, Portugal by Juan Portugal Ramos has a rich dark garnet red color. This red is a blend of 35% Aragones, 35% Trincadeira and 30% Castelão. This is an easy drinking wine that is a great introduction to the high quality of Portuguese wines in the marketplace now. Very fruit forward with a hint of spiciness in the background. The palate follows the nose and has some slight acidity in the background but no harsh tannins lingering. The finish is medium and makes this a food friendly wine. Enjoy this with a pork roast with some dried fruits and also barbeque with some sweet notes.
