Venica, Collio, Malvasia, 2012

Malvasia is an ancient grape varietal that is grown throughout the Mediterranean and has even made it to the New World in places like California and Brazil. In Italy it is grown from the far north such as Friuli all the way down to Sicily. In Italy’s Northeastern corner in the region of Friuli–Venezia Giulia in Dolegna del Collio, Venica&Venica is producing high quality Malvsia among it portfolio of wines.
Venica, Collio, Malvasia, 2012 is pale golden yellow. The nose is very aromatic with lemon, wildflowers and peach. The palate is filled with lemon, golden apple and tart peach. The medium finish has nice crisp acidity and is very refreshing. This wine is great to start with as an aperitif on its own with seafood marinated in citrus and the acidity will also cut through light cream sauces.
