Vampire WE to Help Throw Fundraising ‘Ball’ in the Creatures Surrogate's Court

What does NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Soul spinning DJs, Vampire Weekend and ‘Catdog’ have to do with Halloween? How about the ‘Creatures’ Ball.'  So you say you love pooches and the felines, right?  You dress them up in reindeer antlers for Christmas or maybe even as a pumpkin for Halloween.  In animated lore, who can forget Snoopy’s role fighting the Red Baron in “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.”  Or the Chuck Jones loveable dog in antlers as the Grinch’s sidekick returning all the gifts in ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas.’  Well, if George Clinton’s ‘Atomic Dog’ had his way, the dance floor at Surrogates Court this Saturday night, October 29, would be loaded with canines and felines.  Caretaking their human hosts. Looking closely at this video, isn't the dance floor already loaded with canines and felines in the guise of Humans?  Yes, I admit to watching Puppybowl. Find out who is 'Leader of the Pack' at this fundraising event to benefit the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s animals - a private nonprofit.  Pay homage to (wo)man’s best friend and be seen by the canine and feline lovers as the selfless, life affirming caregiver with the Kong that you are.  Our best friends are part of the family, so shouldn’t Halloween be used to benefit and reward their loyalty?  What better way to celebrate than a Halloween ‘tennis’ Ball.

Scheduled DJs are:
Connie T. Empress (Empire State Soul Club, Rhythm Revue, CBS-FM, Subway Soul Club)
DJ Girlsoul (Empire State Soul Club, Subway Soul Club; also DJing at Mighty Fine record release party at Don Pedro's in Williamsburg this weekend)
Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend)

DJs and their beloved animals have long connected with their pet adoring audience.  There's DJ Maria Milito of Classic Rock Q104 and her terrific book, 'Clarice and Friends...' on grieving the loss of her pet pug, including anecdotes from her listeners and yours truly.  Also Monica Lynch from WFMU who brings in funny sound bites during her Sunday radio show (7-9pm) from her pet French bulldog 'Butter', are both put up for 'adoption' as part of  'FMU's marathon fundraiser (this month's fundraiser is silent, however).

Going in costume with $150 and being 21 will get into this worthy cause (open bar, dancing, sweet and savory treats).  And do as Bob Barker says: "spay and neuter your pets."

This benefit is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 9:00pm-1:00am at Surrogates Court 31 Chambers Street (across from Tweed courthouse) in the City Hall, Wall Street district of Manhattan, NYC. Phone:  212-252-2350.  Accessible via NYC Transit R to City Hall or 4,5,6 to Brooklyn Bridge
