South Dakota, 1906: Cassie Lockwood grew up in her father’s Wild West Show becoming a skilled trick rider and sharpshooter. After her father’s death “Uncle” Jason took over as manager and now announces the closing of the show. Stunned Cassie is at a loss about what to do, eventually she decides to set out and find the valley her father always dreamed about.
Unbeknownst to Cassie there is a ranch already on the property and the family is struggling to keep it going. Will Cassie ever find the valley and what will happen if she does? Find out in Valley of Dreams book one of the “Wild West Dreams” series by Lauraine Snelling.
I liked this book but it took a while for me to read it. While I enjoyed the story, especially the two separate stories, I felt it dragged on especially towards the end. I wanted Cassie to reach the valley and while some important things happened on the trail, I felt the whole thing could have been told more quickly.
Trusting God is a major theme in this book. Cassie has been stripped of everything familiar to her and must find something to trust in.
Overall, this book is a good story, but it is a bit of a letdown. The whole story seems to be building to something and when it arrives the book ends right there. I give it three and a half out of five stars.
If there is a book you would like me to review please write it in the Comments.
