Upstate NY heads to the Vineyard

Martha's Vineyard, that is.

After a long weekend celebrating those glorious stars and stripes, this local live music examiner is reporting in hopes to bring the music heard on the island to the little metropolis that is Albany NY or even better, Saratoga Springs.

Saturday July 3rd, at Nectar's MV, in Edgartown, Chiddy Bang headlined for one of the best "birthday" parties of the year. Toasting to America, amongst a sea of 21-35 year olds raging in pure island fashion. It was epic, EPIC!

Noah “Xaphoon Jones” Beresin is the beat-making half of Chiddy Bang while Chidera “Chiddy” Anamege handles the rapping. The duo together create a modern edge to the genre that makes people want to get effin wild.

The event was a benefit for the YMCA and produced by Neon Gold Records, a record company run by Chilmark summer residents Derek Davies and Lizzy Plapinger. The night also featured The Knocks, French Horn Rebellion and Savoir Adore.

A local "who, what, where?" site, whatsupmartha.com  is a company that was put together in order to put you in the know when on island. WUM was there partying as well. They provide up to date and pretty rad suggestions of where to go, what to eat, where to shop, and where the best music is on island. WUM partied at Nectar's snapping pics, peep their site...you may be famous!

Chiddy Bang is most well known for the song "Opposite of Adults" off the album The Preview, which has a sound that is definitely unique, but also familiar as they incorporate beats and samples from artists such as Radiohead, MGMT and Passion Pit, to name a few. Their music is all over iTunes and is definitely the highlight of any summer playlist.
