Silk 'n Things Christmas open house

Ready or not, “The Season” ‘tis upon us. Crisp autumn days and smoky leaf fires lull us into anticipating Thanksgiving, but savvy merchants are busy launching the Christmas season in retail America. Silk ‘n Things, an upscale home goods retailer and silk floral arranger in Barrington, hosted a sparkling open house on November 6th and 7th to show case their Christmas fare and your new Christmas treasures.

This year’s theme centers on “Out of Africa” merchandise punctuated by very life sized giraffes nipping at tree foliage and peering between lush animal print fabrics, earthen-toned, oversized ceramic pieces and dark wooden carvings of other animal brethren.

A salute to high stepping elegance is captured by a tree topped off in top hats and canes. A copious amount of red and green ornaments links Christmas with New Years in this fanciful dance of sugarplums, Santa Clauses and other glittery trinkets. Dickensonians can satisfy their need for a Victorian Christmas by browsing the numerous candle lanterns on display.

Crystal palace winter, ice sculptures and snow queens reign in tree theme number three. Cold and crisp silver and gold are paid homage here. Take home a glass slipper or a cherub in his sleigh.

Seasonal florals, candles, lamps, statuary, frames, ceramics, mirrors, chests and other household decorative items fill the store for your shopping pleasure.

Don’t see exactly what you want? Not a problem. This is a custom design shop and proprietors, Al and Rose Pickett, will arrange a floral piece to your specification or decorate your entire home for the holidays. Silk ‘n Things is located in Deer Park Shopping Center near the theatres.
