Do you like beer? Do you like independent music? Then Untapped is for you! I had only heard of this festival celebrating local breweries from 2nd degree friend associations. I figured it would be a bunch of annoyingly drunk young people and the music would be crap, but I stood corrected within the first few minutes. The culture was a large mix of demographics. The music was awesome, and most of the beer was worth a try. My fiance and I especially enjoyed Sam Adam's Double Bock. We want to thank 91.7 KXT for awarding us free VIP tickets to the event. We both got a $5 beer sampling card (each had 12 places to stamp), a 3 ounce sampling shot glass, free cookies on our way in, and early access. As we bypassed the long line, in the future I would pay the $60 fee per person to have this luxury! Getting in early ensures you get the freebies from the local brewers. It was freezing and raining on Ft. Worth on this particular day, but after a few beer samples we didn't even notice until 5 hours into the event. There were 3 stages with some great acts from all over. Hip-hop was a surprising focus, alongside folkish songwriter acts and 5 piece indie acts. All incorporating some slightly left-of-center instrument that made their sets especially cool. Get out to the next one, it's a good time!
