One thing for sure in life is that scent is tied to memory, and that is exactly how Katie Masik became inspired, and the CEO of Masik Collegiate Fragrances. During an interview with Katie, she pointed out that everyone makes fragrances for celebrities, but why not colleges.
With a 7 1/2 year background in energy, and an Entrepreneur at heart, Katie's totally random idea turned into an impeccable creation. She wanted to create something that was totally different and even though they have had several licenses' for fragrances they plan to stay with the Collegiate Collection for now. They currently do not have or plan to have every college but do offer many fragrances for men and women. Katie's idea is that every time you wear your school's cologne you'll remember that special someone, your best friends, or like Katie, what a great time college was.
The University of Florida's colognes were influenced by many things. Like Century Tower, which is a 157-foot-tall carillon tower in the center of the University of Florida campus, the schools colors, and more. For example they used mandarin, and blue aromatics for both the men and women's fragrances. They also threw in some green aromatics because they are the Florida Gator's. The first thing Masik Collegiate Fragrances does is create a few scents based on the school and then focus groups that include the University's staff, and student body test the scent. Each school is a little different.
In 2014 you can look forward to seeing a new cologne for the University of Texas, and the University of Arkansas too. As well as Bucknell, where Katie attended college. She is definitely looking forward to that one! Be sure to look for all her new fragrances as I am sure she will out-do herself.
