TV doesn't get much better than 'Mary Tyler Moore Show' final season

It's finally out. We can't say it loud enough -- "The Mary Tyler Moore Show - The Complete Seventh Season" is one you have to get. 

 

In every succeeding season of the show, the very memorable episodes became more frequent. In the final season, the writers outdid themselves. 

 

In the season opener, there was "Mary Midwife," where a party at Mary Richards' apartment turns into a delivery room for Ted and Georgette's bay. There was "Sue Ann's Sister," where the cast learns what's in Sue Ann's bedroom.  

 

The final four episodes in the set, however, rank among the best sitcom episodes of all time. "Mary's Three Husbands," our favorite of the series, has Lou, Murray and Ted dreaming what it might be like married to Mary. In "Mary's Big Party," Mary and the cast wait for the arrival of a special guest -- Johnny Carson, but not without some complications. "Lou Dates Mary" says it all. 

 

And most of all, in the masterful series finale, "The Last Show," the new owner of WJM makes some big big changes. The tears flow, from the cast and the viewer.

 

There are no special features, though "The Last Show" does include the final curtain call of the cast right after the episode ends, though it's not listed on the menu. (Our first copy of the set didn't include this and we were told a few copies mistakenly got out that didn't.)

 

But this set's a classic and belongs in every TV sitcom fan's library. One of the best TV comedies of all time came to end and went on top.
