Turisas

Hailing form Finland, Turisas is an interesting mix of folk, symphonic and a bit power metal thrown in. With the release of their third full length album, “Stand Up and Fight”, Turisas has brought forth another entertaining bit of music. The Band just finished up their North American tour alongside Cradle of Filth and will be spending the summer attending some of the big metal festivals in Europe promoting their latest album. The music takes you on a journey of epic battles, conquest, and mythology. The mix of upbeat melodies and lyrics about epic battles or Norse mythology creates a different world for listeners. With each album, this band has grown musically and developed their sound to be something unique, even within the folk/Viking metal genre. In “Stand Up and Fight”, Turisas has added a bit more orchestra to their sound, which has added a whole new dimension to the music. There is a feel of a Hollywood score in some of the tracks. At times, their music sounds a bit like a soundtrack to some video games like the Legend of Zelda or even World of Warcraft, and at other you can almost see men in kilts ready for battle. The combination makes for such a fun and unique listening experience like no other. This band is just down right fun to listen to. Be warned though, this may not appeal to everyone, if you think you might like songs of plunder and pirates head over to their facebook page for more information http://www.facebook.com/turisas
