We were asked to try out Pillsbury’s new Funfetti glazed Lil’ donut kits. We already tried the vanilla version and everybody enjoyed them. Now it is time to make the maple flavored donuts.
The instructions for the maple donuts were simple. Add water and butter to the donut mix and stir until combined. Then we had to roll the mix into balls and place on a greased baking sheet. They only bake for 10-12 minutes, so this treat is quick to make. While they were baking we mixed up the maple flavored glaze with a little milk and poured the sprinkles into a bowl so we were ready to decorate these little beauties.
They baked for twelve minutes and with a 2 minute cooling time, we were ready to spoon the glaze on top of the mini donut. We then added sprinkles to the wet glaze and let them dry for a few minutes. They tasted really ‘mapley’ with both the donut and the glaze being maple flavored. As with the vanilla donuts, they appeared to be more for kids than adults. However, that was an incorrect assumption. Here’s why…we brought the plate of donuts into the office. One man tasted the maple version and just about stood guard over them so that nobody else could take them. Sure, they are perfect for kids, but adults like them too.
All in all, from start to finish this took about 30-35 minutes. It was quick, easy and a perfect project to make even for young children.
There are three flavors available; vanilla, maple and chocolate. We already reviewed the vanilla flavored donuts and we will be posting the review for the chocolate flavored donuts in the next few days.
