The Eiger Sanction

The Eiger Sanction is the 1975 thriller starring and directed by Clint Eastwood. He plays Professor Johnathan Hemlock, who used to be an assassin. He is forced out of retirement when it turns out his friend, Henri Baq, is dead. Hemlock must join a climbing group that the killer is a member of. He goes to his friend, Bowman, and trains. Several people try to kill him, but he survives. When the group climbs the Eiger Mountains they are stuck thanks to bad weather. Can Hemlock complete his mission?

The movie isn’t too bad, although some people may wonder what a surrealistic character like Dragon is doing in a fairly realistic movie. Hemlock is kind of a jerk, but not that bad. Although the movie is a bit low-key in the suspense arena, it doesn’t get boring. It turns out that Hemlock’s climb was all for nothing, as not only is everybody else killed, he fails to complete it. Luckily, it’s not a complete downer since he finds out who killed Baq, so the ending is relatively happy. Honolulu thriller fans should rent this movie.
