Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is the 1964 family film. The children of Mars grow up too fast, Kimar, the leader of Mars finds out that he must bring Santa Clause to his planet. He leads a group to Earth and succeeds in kidnapping Santa, but not before taking Earth children Billy and Betty Foster because they saw them. Further complicating things is that Voldar hates the idea of bringing Christmas to Mars and tries to hinder them every step of the way. Can Santa bring Christmas cheer to Mars?
This is a cheesy movie that most modern viewers probably know from Mystery Science Theater 3000. The story doesn’t hold up very well and is more likely to be laughed at. Some may wonder why the Martians need to import an Earth holiday in order to help the children of Mars. At least Kimar turns out to be a pretty good character as he may get his hands dirty but he tries to take the smartest course of action. The same can’t be said for Droppo whom viewers may wish got sucked out of the spaceship. Honolulu film fans should watch this only if they want a laugh.
