Roman Holiday is the 1953 film starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Princess Ann is getting burnt out and decides to take a break. She secretly sneaks out and meets reporter Joe Bradley, who takes her to his apartment. He finds out her true identity and his editor tells him to get an exclusive interview with her. The two go on a whirlwind tour of Venice. However, people are trying to find her but fail. Will Joe get his interview or will his growing feeling for Ann get in the way?
This is a charming movie that mixes comedy and slice-of-life shorts well. Actually, Joe and Ann could possibly have had a relationship, since by this time it would have been plausible for a civilian to date a member of royalty. That aside, the pacing is true to life as many people have an event that shakes up their world for a little while and then goes back to normal. Since the ending is pretty open, one can’t help but wonder if Ann might do this again if she gets burnt out. Honolulu movie fans should watch this movie.
