Invasion of the Star Creatures is the 1962 sci-fi spoof. Army privates Philbrick and Penn are some of the dumbest grunts ever to put on a uniform. However, they stumble on a spaceship from the planet Chalar. Two female scientists have come to take over the planet, using alien plants they have grown. They have kidnapped the squad but Philbrick and Penn escape. Things get complicated when one of the scientists falls in love with them. Still, they have to stop the invasion. Can our dimwitted duo save the day?
This is mean to be a satire, so the goofy monsters actually fit the movie. There are some nasty implications as the duo’s superior office bemoans the fact that he has to take orders from Native Americans. It’s a decent sci-fi flick which is different in that its goofiness is intentional. Many movie fans will notice that the two actors are following in the footsteps of such famous duos such as Abbott and Costello. Interestingly, it’s the only film so far to be extended when shown on T.V. Honolulu comedy fans may want to rent this.
