Executive Action is the 1973 thriller about the JFK conspiracy. The movie’s theory is that a group of influential men plan to kill Kennedy since he is in conflict with their interests. They hire some men to practice their sharpshooting skills. They plan to use Lee Harvey Oswald as their fall guy. The film also shows 1960’s history as the men prepare for their mission. It goes off without a hitch and the assassins flee the US. However, they hadn’t planned on Jack Ruby getting revenge.
The only viewers who are going to take this movie seriously are those who believe in the JFK assassination theories. Everyone else will either laugh at it or get angry. It’s a shame, because the screen writer, Dalton Trumbo, is better than this. The film is well made, but the subject matter drags it down. One does have to wonder how successful they really were since the killing didn’t put a stop to civil rights and America lost the Vietnam War. While entertaining, it is not very believable. Honolulu film fans may want to watch a different movie.
