ECBC Javelin Executive Daypack

Having the right travel gear is critical for anyone who travels frequently for work, as well as for busy professionals who have a long commute to and from the office several days each week. Backpack-style bags are a popular option, but traditional backpacks designed for students and hikers don’t quite meet the needs of business travelers. The folks at ECBC sent me one of their new Javelin Executive Daypacks to check out on the many business trips I take as a corporate training professional, and I found that it’s a great option for work-related travel.

About the Javelin Executive Daypack
The Javelin Executive Daypack is an ideal option for business travelers who prefer to carry their business gear in a backpack. The bag is an ideal “small carry on” for air travel, and it also works well for trade show visits, off-site meetings, commuting and more.

The bag is very well-made. The stitching is solid and the bag is outfitted with high quality YKK zippers that can hold up to repeated usage.

The body and base of the bag are made from tough, durable ballistic nylon that can stand up to being put in and removed from overhead luggage compartments over and over.

Additionally, the fabric has been treated with a water repellent coating – a great feature business travelers who carry laptops and other electronic equipment with them in all kinds of weather conditions.

The bag is very attractive in an understated way. Its design is sleek, giving it a more professional appearance than the more commonly-found slouchy styles of backpacks. It comes in gray and black, muted tones that are attractive and appropriate for business settings.

Functional Features
Not only is the bag great looking and durable, it’s very functional. It’s designed to carry a lot of gear – much more than you would expect at first glance. Not only does it hold many items, the bag’s unique design features make it easy to keep your gear organized.

A few examples of the Javelin Executive Daypack’s features include:

  • Small felt-lined zipper pocket on the top of the bag that will hold your glasses, cell phone or MP3 player for easy access
  • Laptop storage compartment lined with high density protective foam (holds all 15” laptops and is large enough for most 17 inch machines)
  • Separate padded pocket designed specifically for an iPad or tablet
  • Front zipper pocket to hold travel documents for fast, easy access
  • Built-in pen holders
  • Multiple storage compartments throughout for maximum gear organization (including mesh and closed options)
  • Beverage holder pockets on both sides of the bag can be zipped away out of sight when not in use
  • Adjustable shoulder straps that are padded for maximum comfort
  • Air mesh back panel
  • Padded top handle

Unique Feature
The bag is also outfitted with ECBC’s TSA-friendly FastPass® technology, a feature that is sure to appeal to air travelers. The laptop compartment unzips so that it will lay completely flat on a screening conveyor belt, a feature that can be used to keep from having to completely remove your laptop from the bag when traveling.

Great Business Travel Bag Investment
This is a terrific bag that I would recommend to anyone looking for a business pack that allows you to keep your hands free and distribute the weight of your gear across both sides of your back. I really enjoyed traveling with it, and plan to keep using the bag – especially when flying and attending trade shows.

With an MSRP of just under $130, it’s not the cheapest pack out there – but it is definitely one of the best options designed with the needs of business travelers in mind. Plus, the bag is so well made that you can expect it to serve you well for years to come. Learn more at
