Watter is the new instrumental project from Grails guitarist Zak Riles, Slint drummer Britt Walford and Strike City multi-instrumentalist Tyler Trotter, a immensely powerful project which cuts through much of the hype and hyperbole usually associated so many acts touted with "supergroup" status via their public relations blitz.

Instead, Watter seem content to simply deliver the proverbial goods with some seriously dynamic compositional chops, penning epic-length tracks which build upon layers of reverb soaked guitars, wandering bass lines and driving percussion to create a moving 'n moody musical experience. This World is only six tracks in length, yet the ideas finalized here on such songs as "Seawater" and righteous opening track "Rustic Fog" take their time in revealing all of their creative secrets to the listener.

Watter utilize everything from pastoral country-western motifs on "Bloody Sunday" to evocative and atmospheric Egyptian scales on the aforementioned "Seawater," while King Crimson legend Tony Levin joins in on the fun, guesting on the track "Small Business" with his inimitable bass guitar skills. There are a number of other guest musicians on the album as well, including vocalist Dane Waters and Walford associates Todd Cook and Rachel Grimes, all of whom assist in making This World an unforgettable listen of moving, melodic instrumental rock; one which defies the all too easy "post" adjective in favor of something which is truly greater than the sum of its parts.
