Quick Shot: We are so lucky to have this world-renown, Polynesian piece of paradise in Portland! The new Trader Vic's has gone all out and the place is absolutely gorgeous, authentic, and perfectly blended -- not too tacky, not too touristy, and totally tiki. I love it, I love it, I love it!
Location: Pearl (12th and Glisan)
Atmosphere & Decor:
Refined tropical elegance mixed with fun and fascination. Fully-thatched ceilings and walls; themed ceramic mugs (and bowls) and retro glassware; bamboo and carved wooden masks everywhere; big central tiki bar; and giant, floor-to-ceiling windows that open to the street. Sidewalk patio seating (with heat lamps if need be). Here in the rainy Northwest, this place will be a very welcomed and wonderful respite all year long.
Happy Hour Food:
$3.00–$4.00
Unique array of tidbits and pupus with focus on unique, worldly flavors. Meat is roasted in a giant, signature Chinese wood-fired oven, and there's always a couple veggie options too.
Happy Hour Drinks:
$2.00 off their legendary mai tais (several kinds using vodka, gin, or different rums!)
$5.00 select tiki drinks
$3.00 draft beer
Tips:
-- Share mai-tais and other drinks with your tribe and sample the variety and nuances. Share your pupu platters too (and get lots of them)!
-- Count your drinks. They may be surprisingly strong...
-- Trader Vic's bartending philosophy is to measure exactly, so that every drink tastes exactly like it should.
