For anyone who is a new parent, there are a few things that just come with the territory. One of those is animated kids movies. Fortunately the movies geared toward kids that are being produced these days usually have some inside jokes that only adults will understand so they can still be enjoyable. This is essential given how much kids can watch the same movie over and over, day after day and not get tired of it.
Last night, ABC debuted a new short film in the Toy Story series called Toy Story of Terror. Themed as a Halloween special in the advertising, the “terror” is fairly short lived and the familiar crew from the previous feature length movies ends up in the glass case of a unscrupulous hotel manager selling stolen toys on the Internet. There are a few “adult gags” and viewers are also introduced to Combat Carl (voiced by Carl Weathers) who will also make an appearance in the forthcoming full length feature Toy Story 4.
Toy Story staples Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack all reprise their roles from the previous films. This short is a fun little trip back into the world of Toy Story and will be airing again on Saturday, October 19th on ABC Family.
