In a society that is so attached to their smartphones, it’s a wonder anyone survived so long without them! Imagine working out, and not being able to track your workout. Gasp!! In your iPhone if you do a search for ‘running’ in the App search bar, there will be 2,790 results! Way too many for any one person to go through and decide which are best. Below are the top three running apps.
RunKeeper is one of the top running apps available. The lure of this app is that it has multiple ways to track runs, jogs and cycling, both indoor and outdoor. RunKeeper also has some great features when it comes to tracking your stats. The app lets you know the stats of this week versus last week in the following areas: how many miles you have finished, your average pace, how many workouts have been completed, how many calories were burned, the elevation climb, and time spent. If tracking all of this data on your smartphone becomes too daunting, RunKeeper stores all of your data on their website so you have easy access to check it out from anywhere.
Much like RunKeeper, Nike+ is a great app for storing all of your workouts and gives you some great stats in return. In addition to all the stats and sharing capabilities that this app offers, you can even choose to get cheered on by a real time crowd giving your motivation to assist in completing your workout. Possibly the greatest feature about this app is that you do not need to have access to any other Nike accessories!
MapMyRun has over 70 million routes to choose from, or you have the option of creating your own routes. Not only does this app allow you to track your workouts by GPS, but you also have the option to track your workouts manually. The difference between this app and the other two is that you also have the option to track your food so you can get a full picture of your health all in one location! MayMyRun also has some amazingly fun competitions such as the route art contest where users created their own routes that looked like pictures.
