Top 5 Animated Films of 2010

1. Toy Story 3 - Rare in the world of movie sequels and especially in the world of movie trilogies, Toy Story 3 may actually be the best of the bunch, blending comedy, adventure and story-telling perfectly in this imaginary, animated world.

2. How to Train Your Dragon - Though not grabbing the attention of adults and teens like other Dreamworks films (i.e. Shrek, Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda), this film is probably Dreamworks BEST film EVER, with dazzling 3-D animation, a deep story with America Ferrera/Ugly Betty-ish moral lessons, and exciting Gerard Butler/300-level action sequences (especially in 3D).

3. Despicable Me - The previews really don't give you any idea what this animated film is about, and though it is NOT a Pixar film, it's got that feel, with a creative story (a man with a secret hideout in a normal suburban neighborhood plans to steal the moon) and well voiced characters by a list of big-name stars (Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, and Julie Andrews).

4. Tangled - A return to their proven princess formula but more entertaining and action-packed than your typical animated Disney films.

5. The Illusionist - Do not miss this retro-looking animated film about a magician who thinks his illusions are no longer relevant entertainment in the world of rock bands and technology, until he meets a young girl who believes his tricks are real magic.
