Trying to find a GPS that helps you navigate effortlessly through your without spinning you in circles on your commute, can at times be difficult. TomTom, which has long been in the business of keeping us on course, has come out with a right pointing compass reasonably and competitively priced.
The TomTom VIA 1605TM features their largest screen (6-inches) offered on their portable device (thank goodness), a new interface that is clear and vivid. Not only has the interface been updated but also the resolution has been increased to 800 x 400 pixels but the large buttons helps the driver to easily use the device.
Other than the POI features which are limiting, I found that the VIA 1605TM performed as hoped. But there are certain abilities that it possesses that are quite useful and helpful. The alarm that sounds when the driver approaches a stoplight that has a camera is a big plus in places like New York City. It also includes lifetime map and traffic updates. The alternative route ability is great for when the traffic is overwhelming, it tells you how much faster the route might be.
Lastly the mounting system on this gadget allows for use on the dashboard as well as the windshield. Available now for $229, great buy for a nifty, easy to use practical item.
