The Hounds of Hell tour made its unforgettable stop at Chicago’s Concord Music Hall on Friday, October 11th with Tommy Trash and Wolfgang Gartner. The night started off with openers, Bass Kleph brought his 12 years of experience behind the decks by revving up the crowd with hard-hitting heavy beats that vibrated the entire dance floor. Bass Kleph got the crowd unanimously engaged in a chant with a remix of Zombie Nation’s “Kernkraft 400.” “Who’s ready for Tommy Trash and Wolfgang Gartner?” he asked the audience, to which he got a wild wave of cheers and hoots in response.
As Blass Kleph ended his set, the lights went off and revealed Tommy Trash who got into the music by absorbing the crowd’s energy as he head banged to his beats with his long curls flying everywhere. Tommy focused most of his set with his signature, euphoric synths and beats, while mixing in some Swedish House Mafia, deadmau5 and the crowd favorite: “Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat” by Calvin Harris and Riva Starr. He also played his collaboration with A-Trak, “Monkey See, Monkey Do,” and of course “Reload” with John Martin’s vocals.
Wolfgang Gartner came on stage to a highly anticipated crowd and subsequently played the air piano for the melodic parts of his music, where he conducted the length and pitch of the different notes with his hand. Gartner also changed up the tempo, slowing it down to transition into some old-school-like hip-hop, only to pick up the tempo to go back to electro. Wolfgang also played around with the pitch, transposing the ends of some tracks to lead into another track. Due to popular crowd demand, Wolfgang played well-deserved encores such as “Flexx” and “Animal Rights.” Overall, the night started and ended with exhilarating highs for this Hounds of Hell stop.
