Three Boston Restaurants Standing Out On Social Media

Three Boston restaurants caught my attention online and set my social media marketing-loving heart a flutter.

Doré Crêperie

A recently opened pop-up restaurant serving Fresh Breakfast, Lunch & Dessert Crepes, has already made quite a splash in Boston thanks in part to their online marketing efforts.  Doré Crêperie is currently blogging, hosting their own website, using Facebook and Twitter, and they have managed to secure a post on the Boston edition of Urban Daddy.com (a website that sends a free daily email devoted to bringing you the hottest things to know every day about your city).  In addition to the email views, the Urban Daddy website garners 192,605 unique visitors a month according to Compete.com – not a bad hit for a start-up!  Their current Facebook campaign involves giving out crepes to all of Boston on Bastille Day (July 14th) if the people can help the new restaurant reach 10,000 followers.  A solid engagement strategy on Facebook – who wouldn’t want free crepes?

The restaurant is now open and located in downtown Boston: Doré Crêperie, 1 Beacon Street, Boston, MA, 02108.  Check out their various websites and social channels to learn more:

Bon Me Food Truck

Twitter was the optimal social channel for Bon Me to select due to the fast and simple way of sharing information. Bon Me is a Vietnamese food truck located primarily in the greater Boston area.  They update followers through Twitter on locations, daily menu items and engaging with trusty customers and fans.  The result of Bon Me posting relevant and timely information and interacting with customers, is their followers are responding via Twitter and more importantly, showing up at the truck and purchasing food.  Customers have also been giving feedback, sharing where they’d like the truck to go next and what menu additions they would like to see. The combination of listening and improving make Bon Me and success on Twitter.

Clover Food Lab

Created in September 2008, Clover has come a long way from the humble beginnings of a simple food truck.  Clover serves up a new type of fast food – local, just-cut and organic when possible.  The website is regularly updated with posts on restaurant happenings including blips on team members, menu changes, restaurant construction/improvements, how things are made, nutritional information and more.  What’s best about Clover’s online approach is their voice and online personality; I can hear the person behind each entry.  This is also the case for Clover’s Twitter handles: @cloverHSQ, @cloverSWA, @cloverGOV, @cloverDWY and @cloverfoodtruck. Each handle represents a different location.

Clover set itself apart for me with their live menu - one of the coolest things I’ve seen a restaurant do online!  People can see the menu items for the day online as they are written on what appears to be a simple white board in the restaurant.

I’m impressed.
