'This is 40' is a fun movie (Video)

"This is 40" makes a fine " sort of sequel" to 2007's incredibly popular "Knocked Up". Hartford it is playing here. The movies takes a look at Pete and Debbie a few years after the events from "Knocked Up". It is directed by Judd Apatow and stars Paul Rudd and Apatow's wife, Leslie Mann.

The films finds Pete and Debbie both on the eves of their 40th birthdays. Both respond to the milestones in different ways and as a result, find themselves at odds with each other. At the the core of both the film and the conflicts between the two main characters are some pretty basic and arguably mundane issues. Melissa McCarthy as a mother to Pete and Debbie's daughter's boyfriend says it best in the film - pretty people with pretty problems. However, their regular and everyday problems are what makes the film so entertaining and relatable. For example, at one point Pete sits alone in his car, crying because he's broke but is trying to maintain the same lifestyle his family is accustomed to. Stupid yes, but his feelings are relatable.

Go see "This is 40" and have a laugh among all the heavy Oscar heavy hitters that are out right now.
