The weather is turning colder and the leaves are disappearing. That can only mean one thing that the winter ales are starting to make their way to the shelves.
This past weekend as I was looking at the tap walls and store shelves and I noticed that pumpkin beers are starting to disappear. Some of the beers that are making their way to the forefront include: Abita Christmas Ale, Sam Adams Old Fezziwig and Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve. These are just a few of the beers but of course you have stouts and porters making their way to the beer community as well. Aside from these brews which are typically flavored with some traditional holiday flavors like nutmeg and cinnamon, many breweries begin serving more stouts and porters. Now I am not one for heavy dark beers all the time but something about the cold weather makes them that much more enjoyable. So this weekend check out some the darker beers and let me know what you think.
Also this weekend if you have not heard Tennessee Brew Works, @TNBrewworks, is opening this weekend and is located at 809 Ewing Avenue downtown. I will be there Friday checking out the new brewery. I cannot wait to try some new beer and see the new brewery. As always you can follow me on twitter and untappd @princessofhops.
