Shout Factory has been churning out the horror classics on Blu-ray, but are not forgetting about the classics and are now bringing some of his greatest works of Vincent Price to Blu-ray for the first time with The Vincent Price Collection.
This amazing collection features 1960s Fall of the House of Usher, 1963s The Haunted Place, 1964s The Masque of the Red Death, 1961s The Pit and the Pendulum, 1968s Witchfinder General, and 1971s The Abonimable Dr. Phibes. Each of these films sport a beautiful hi-def transfer making them look better than ever. Each of these films are classics in the horror genre but for those that have sadly missed any of them need to understand it’s a different kind of horror. Some aspects of these make come off a bit silly, but they are designed to tell a story as opposed to just shock you and do so with an elegant style. Before he became known for the cheese cinema, Roger Corman was bringing these classics to life and lead the charge with 4 of the 6 films in this collection. Each film has an introduction video from the man himself Vincent Price that just makes it that much cooler. In addition to the films this set features a booklet that includes a variety of movie posters from all six films, a gallery of rare images and a forward essay from author David Del Valle that adds to the overall mystic of both the films and that of Vincent Price himself.
The collection of these films together alone is worth adding it to your collection, but each will feature a wide variety of special features including interviews with producer/director Roger Corman, audio commentaries, original theatrical trailers, still galleries and archival materials. This is a classic horror fan’s dream and those that order this collection will also receive an exclusive 18”x24” poster featuring the newly commissioned artwork while supplies last.
