On my continued search for wine in San Fernando Valley, I stopped by The Villa for dinner and wine. I was visually amazed that this property has been some what of a secret to many and to others, a go to for local luxury.
The a wine list stand out was the Chateau St Michelle Riesling which was perfectly paired with the restaurant favorite tuna tartare. This Riesling is sourced from throughout Washington’s Columbia Valley, crafted to be a refreshing and light. The wine delivers sweet lime and peach with subtle mineral notes which go well with many dishes, but really complimented the lightness of the tuna.
The Villa is located in one of Woodland Hills historic restaurant sites. The original home of Eckbergs Steak House of the 1960's and 70's, which was actually a home converted to a 10 table restaurant on Ventura Blvd just off the Shoup exit. After the business changed hands in the early 80's, the original home/restaurant was expanded and transformed (with much of the original framing intact) into several incarnations under the same ownership.
Known for the amazing French food in Los Angeles, Lautrec became a destination for foodies and lovers alike, later to renew itself as Villa Piacere, a favorite spot for special occasions and weddings in the San Fernando Valley.
Looking for a piece of luxury to experience truly amazing wines, this is an amazing location to experience both.
