Since the Rapids are arguably always underrated and unappreciate, I have taken it upon myself to create the unofficial “Rapids Are Awesome Awards”, soon to be popularly known as the RAA awards. This article is dedicated to the players who proudly put on both burgundy and awesomeness this 2011 season.

Best professional debut: Eddie Ababio
Sharing the most news worthy info on Twitter: Andre Akpan.
Best post-goal celebrating: Quincy Amarikwa.
Most dedicated fans: Davy Armstrong. These fans have tagged places all around DSGP with his jersey number.
Looks most like his video game character: Conor Casey.
Biggest Chipolte lover: Steward Ceus.
Most entertaining yellow card: Miguel Comminges. Who knew getting hydrated would be a bad thing?
Best hider of pain: Omar Cummings. This guy no longer has an ankle, he has an injured cankle.
Coolest accent: Danny Earls.
The homeboy award: Steven Emory. He is from Ft. Collins.
Best use of arms: Caleb Folan.
Coolest car award: Mike Holody.
Secret talent award: Josh Jannier.
Cutest baby: Ian Joyce.
Best comeback: Mac Kandji.
Most passionate: Kosuke Kimura, giving 100% in everything he does.
Best filler of shoes: Ross LaBauex
Scariest free kicks: Jeff Larentowicz.
Coolest bicycle: Tyrone Marshall
The true hater of the shin-guard: Pablo Mastroeni
Most groupies: Drew Moor
Overcomer of the year: Brian Mullan. This guy overcame a 10-game suspension, and shined as the experience veteran in the playoffs.
Putting the ‘deep’ in deep bench: Joseph Nane.
Best surprise of the year: Sanna Nyassi . Combining this former midfielder up top with Omar gave fans performances they will never forget.
“You can be a defender and still score” award: Scott Palguta
Rock Star: Matt Pickens. Any player that constantly brings fans to their feet in applause should be called a rock star.
“Nothing is going to stop me” award: Jamie Smith.
Biggest heart: Wells Thompson. Giving people the shirt off his back, even if it means getting a yellow card.
The quickest sub: Anthony Wallace. Against Columbus, subbed in, played for 2 minutes, and was taken off due to injury.
The fastest guy to ever step on the pitch: Marvell Wynne.
To sum it up, the Colorado Rapids are a great group of fun and talented players. They overcame injuries, front office tension, and a jaw-dropping schedule by making it to the playoffs. This year did not end with the lifting of the MLS Cup, but it did end with players and fans eager to see what is in store for this awesome team.
